A slice of Naples in London: my visit to Pizza Pilgrims.

As someone who is half Italian - and a self-proclaimed ‘snob’ when it comes to Italian food. I’m always on the lookout for places outside of Italy that could become my go-to for genuinely good food. So whenever I come across Pizza Pilgrims, I don’t hesitate to stop in for a meal.

From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere felt relaxed and instantly took me back to my time in Naples - through food, sound, and feeling. The rich smell of pizza baking in the oven, the loud noise of conversation, and the clinking of glasses all came together to create something that felt authentically Italian. It’s the kind of place where you settle in without even realising it.

The food itself? Consistently delicious, and true to Neapolitan style. This time, I opted for a classic Margherita pizza because you really can’t go wrong with something so simple. In fact, I’d argue it’s the best way to judge a pizza place.

Neapolitan pizza has always been my favourite style, mainly because of the dough. It’s soft, slightly thick, and beautifully airy, light yet satisfying. (If you know, you know.) The base at Pizza Pilgrims delivers exactly that. Topped with fresh tomatoes, basil, and perfectly melted mozzarella, every bite felt balanced and full of flavour without trying too hard. It’s simplicity done right.

If I’m being honest, this is the kind of place I’d visit regularly if there were one closer to me. For now, though, I’ll happily take any excuse to return whenever I’m nearby.
